The Statement of Australia Arakanese Association, Sydney regarding on Myanmar Army for targeting and killing of innocent Rakhine civilians and childrens in Rakhine State, Myanmar.

CONDEMNS MYANMAR ARMY FOR TARGETING AND KILLING INNOCENT RAKHINE
CIVILIANS AND THE GOVERNMENT OF MYANMAR FOR IGNORING THE MILITARY'S
INTENTIONALLY-COMMITTED WAR CRIMES IN RAKHINE STATE

Myanmar military has systematically and deliberately been targeting and shooting civilians in Arakan (Rakhine) State since December 2018 and continuing the war crimes on the Rakhine people. Because of war crimes committed by the Myanmar military, the war victims is now getting close to 100.000 in IDP camps. People in those camps are facing considerable amount of problems in terms of shortage of foods and medicines; and children do not even have an access to attending schools.

Targeting and killing of innocent civilians by the Myanmar Army in the Rakhine state are now getting more frequent. Since December 2018, 82 innocent people were killed and more than 126 civilians were injured by the Myanmar military. The Myanmar military has repeatedly and deliberately shot, tortured, beaten to death, threatened, harassed, and detained hundreds of innocent local people. This has led to widespread fear and
insecurity among Arakanese people; and civilians in Rakhine state have been traumatized by the actions of
the Myanmar government forces. In addition, the oppressive treatment committed by the Myanmar
government seems an unacceptable and dehumanized action against the powerless Arakanese minority communities.

On Sunday, December 1, 2019, five civilians, including three children, were injured after the Myanmar
military allegedly shelled Yar Shay Pyin Village in Mrauk-U Township.

Also, on Monday, December 2, 2019. Three Mrauk-U township residents died and four others were injured
when Myanmar Army fired an artillery shell into the civilian villages called the Ale Zay quarter of Mrauk-U town after 4 p.m. A one-year-old girl, a 4-year-old boy and a 30-year-old woman died. A man and three other women were injured. Among those killed were Nu Nu Win, 24. her son, four-year-old Nyan Lin Htet, and a one-year-old girl, Mee Chey Bu.

A few hours earlier, three civilians were injured when an artillery shell fell on the village of Na Leik in
Mrauk-U Township, Rakhine State on Monday at around I p.m. Two females, aged 13 and 27, and an 18
year-old male were injured in the incident.

The Australian Arakanese Association (Sydney) absolutely condemns Myanmar military for committing war crimes in Arakan State that is amounting to a form of ethnic cleansing and genocide.

The Australian Arakanese Association (Sydney) demands Myanmar military to immediately stop killing the civilians and children's, and Myanmar government to provide necessary assistances to the victims in the IDP camps.
