AA seeks help for two seriously injured soldiers

The Arakan Army (AA) said on Thursday has requested medical treatment for two of the 36 Tatmadaw (military) soldiers it captured during clashes in Paletwa township in Chin State because they have serious injuries.
Khaing Thu Kha, an AA spokesperson, said they want the Red Cross or government doctors to treat them to save their lives.
“Those two soldiers have serious wounds. They will survive if they get medical treatment in time,” he said. “We hope that an aid group can help, whether it’s the International Committee of the Red Cross or the government.”
“They can make an appointment, and we will collect them,” he added.
Khaing Thu Kha said they would also welcome representatives of the ruling National League for Democracy or the Tatmadaw to form a negotiating team to discuss the process of treating the injured captives.

But Colonel Min Than, Rakhine State minister for Security and Border Affairs, expressed doubts about the claims, saying his government has heard nothing from the AA. “The AA can say what it wants. If it is real, it will contact the state government.”
The AA claimed to have captured the soldiers during fighting on Tuesday and Wednesday on the border of Paletwa and Kyauktaw township in Rakhine State.
Khaing Thu Kha said those captured include a battalion commander. The ethnic armed group also claimed to have seized many weapons during the clashes.
Comprised mostly of ethnic Rakhine Buddhists, the AA is fighting for more autonomy from the Myanmar government.
More than 120,000 people have fled their homes since fighting between the AA and Tatmadaw started in November 2018. – Translated
